Mayor Ras J. Baraka emphasized the city’s readiness to welcome the world and showcase its rich cultural heritage.
Kick It in Newark Campaign
In addition to the fan festival, the city has launched the ‘Kick It in Newark’ campaign, a comprehensive series of events and community programs leading up to the World Cup. Spearheaded by the Newark Alliance in partnership with the City of Newark and Invest Newark, this campaign includes community grants to support local events, ensuring that residents and visitors alike can experience the full momentum of this global event. Activations will occur in public spaces, neighborhoods, hotels, and cultural venues across the city, highlighting Newark’s thriving arts, food, music, and diverse communities.
Newark Fan Village
Further enhancing the World Cup experience, the Newark Fan Village will serve as a central, community-driven destination in the Ironbound section of the city. Running daily throughout the tournament, the Fan Village will feature large-scale viewing areas, cultural programming, family-friendly activities, and a curated food hall showcasing cuisines from both Newark-based restaurants and World Cup participating countries. This initiative aims to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors, combining global soccer energy with Newark’s rich cultural identity.
Global Game Summit
Complementing the festivities, Newark will host ‘The Global Game: The Future of Soccer, Tech, & Media Summit’ at the Prudential Center. This event will convene leaders in soccer, media, technology, and investment to discuss the evolution of the sport and its intersection with technology and media. The summit underscores Newark’s growing role as a hub for innovation in global sports.
